I just got my Koss KSC75 in the mail today. I'm very impressed! The hype is real.
IMO, very Grado-like sound...slightly forward midrange, bright clear treble, tight articulate bass. I think I'm going to leave it unmodded since the sound is just right for me.
I'm using it in my office system (vintage Panasonic PCDP > HeadRoom Total AirHead). I've been listening to my Sharp MD33S for a while. The Koss suits my needs better. It is easier to put on and take off. It doesn't isolate nearly as much, a requirement for me because my coworkers (including my boss) ask me questions fairly often while I'm listening to music at my desk...that practically rules out any IEMs for me. The Koss doesn't leak out very much sound either, even when playing at relatively loud volumes.
I'm going to use it for a while before I take it home and try it in my home system (Ack! dAck! > GS-1 with DACT). I'll need to buy a 1/4" adapter. I'll may even do a MS-Pro vs KSC75 comparison someday.
I can say right now that the MS-Pro certainly doesn't sound 40x better.
The KSC75 cost me a measly $16.50 brand new (including shipping) from eBay. At that price, there really is no excuse for anyone not to get one to try.
I spent over 10X that much just on one of my cables.
