I haven't seen it in this thread but I recently discovered the album Hoodoo Man Blues by Junior Wells' Chicago Blues Band and it's exhilarating. Recorded in a studio, it has the energy of a live performance at a club. Something about it - probably sheer excitement - reminds me of James Brown's Live at the Apollo. And Junior Wells' harmonica playing is astonishing, at times overshadowing Buddy Guy - almost. How did it take me so many years to come across this?
