Ok I'm totally infatuated with what I'm surely incorrectly characterizing as a trashy Big Band sound. I'm thinking like Cab Calloway playing Minnie the Moocher. You know, something that would be right at home in a smokey saloon accessed by a back alley in the 1930's where men of poor character are making shady business deals with less than fair maidens "serving" them. Catch my drift? Anyone have any other recommendations on artists/albums/tracks that sound similar to this?

I don't expect that there are many here who know what you're talking about.

Here are a couple of tracks that nail what you're looking for...

"The Mooche" Duke Ellington
"Chant of the Weed" Don Redman

Harlem Jazz is one of my passions. If you want any specific tips, I'd be happy to give you some CDs to look for.

See ya
Steve
