Good soundtracks

I noticed that Harry Pearson put the Gladiator soundtrack on his super CD list (see Oct/Nov 2002 Absolute Sound). Not only that, it is actually ranked as the second best CD of all, sonically. I'm not big on soundtracks, but based on this recommendation I thought I'd try it.

Outstanding. It has enormous dynamic range and is really well recorded--much better than most classical music, let alone rock. The music is excellent, too. If there is anyone who is hesitant on soundtracks, as I was, supposing that they would be turned out assembly-line style just like the movies mostly are...try this one.

I notice he has one more soundtrack in his 'Baker's Dozen' (the 13 best CDs of all), which is The Thin Red Line. I'll be getting that one as well.
