Hi @. Could anyone tell me where I could buy a good quality 3.5mm jack? I'm particularly keen to get hold of a right-angled jack. They don't seem to be as easy to find as I thought they would be. Thanks!

Plug or jack?
Spot the diy newbie, but I don't know what the difference is between a plug & a jack...I figured they're the same thing!
I need a 3.5mm <thing> that you might connect into your iPod (for example).

Lol, plug.
SwitchCraft makes VERY nice plugs, a little harder to work with than some others, but not bad at all. Solid build and great quality. I used a few of these for headphone recables, very sturdy. They're available straight or right angle but are fairly pricey.
Neutrik makes nice little cheap ones, VERY cheap and the quality is pretty good, way better than no-name / radioshack brands. Very easy to work with, used lots in cheaper (KSC75) recables and mini-mini. The straight ones are very cheap (like $1), right angled are a few bucks, and again, very small and cute.

It gets even worse when they call them jack plugs.
A little googleing came up with a UK site that offers the Neutrik NTP3RC & NTP3RC-B
http://www.connectronics.uk.com/Jack.htm
Those are nice plugs but the strain relief kinds sucks because it limits how big the cable can be.

The jack is what the plug plugs into?
Quote:
See, I'd call that a "socket", but then what do I know?
Even the website linked to above is confusing the terminology...
"NEUTRIK JACK & Mini-JACK PLUGS"
"A Neutrik jack is 'The Lifetime Plug'."

Ah, Wikipedia to the rescue!
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jack_%28connector%29
"In electronics, a jack is generally a socket (female) connector, but in some cases the term Jack is arbitrarily applied to the plug (see plug)or socket of a pair of mating connectors. To avoid confusion the specific terms plug or socket are recommended."
