I'm a bit skeptical about the A900s. if im going as far as buying an ath then im definitely going for the W5000. My plan is to get a decent headphone from every decent company. (excluding grado). I think ill go with the DT770, although i would really like some help finding the correct one, like whats the difference between pro and 2005? im so confused.

If you're considering $800 W5000s then why are you messing around with a DT770 when getting a Beyer? Go for the DT990 and get it over with.

I've recently received a pair of Ultrasone Proline 650's and I must say that these have been excellent for gaming.

They have HUGE bass, are closed with good details and soundstage. Switching between the HD650, 990/250 (2005) and the Proline's 650 there's a significant difference in gaming (Battlefield 2) with the Proline's 650 being the most involving and sweet sounding of the three.

When I asked Jan Meier about possible differences between the Beyers 770 (which are a regular recomendation for gaming around here) and the Proline 650 he said he prefers the 650 in every aspect over the 770.

And did I mentioned the bass already? I rate the Proline's 650 bass to be much much more present and impact full than either the HD650 and the 990. It's hard to describe but I've never heard anything like this before from a headphone.

How do the Ultrasones match-up with the Heed CanAmp? I've got one on order for use with my PROline 2500, but I haven't seen any reports about the CanAmp's compatibility with the Ultrasones.

Cheers, Dex

I have to say the dt770's are insane for bf2 particularly because of the bass. Wonder if Jan Meier preferred the Proline 650's to the dt770s as far as gaming went, or just music? =]

880s are not really a gaming can. the 880s themselves are a great deal at $150, but they are not really gaming cans. I have an 880 and my friend has a a500 and i'd probably use his cans over mine for pure gaming.
