My parents currently live in Austria, and I was wondering if anyone knew a good way to get a good deal on AKG cans there. I might be visiting some time next year, but it would be nice if I could have them pick up some K701s for me.

They'll be much cheaper in the US, actually, with the current exchange rate. What your parents could do is get you some K340 or K240 Sextett for a good price on ebay.de or ebay.at, or you could just get them yourself and have them sent to your folks' address.

I noticed they were significantly cheaper from Ebay sellers in the US yesterday. I think I might be getting a cc refund for the Audio-Technicas I ordered since the seller appears to have closed his Ebay account. Feedback of 84 and 100% feedback, and he's unregistered right after I pay. If I have to force a refund, I'll get the 701s.

How about considering the possibility of a VAT refund? I know they're a pain in the butt to obtain, but it might be worth it.

Yeah, I guess that's a possibility. I think I'll just order cans from the US. There's no import tax in Hong Kong, except for motor vehicles, alcohol, fuel and cosmetics.
