The FiiO new K3 is going to be your new HiFi buddy on desktop environments!

Based on the last generation K3, FiiO has noticeably improved on various performance indicators and overall sound quality. The most significant change is a replacement of the ES9038Q2M DAC, so that the signal-to-noise ratio has increased by 14dB and distortion has reduced by 13 dB compared to the older one. Besides, the circuit design implementing this DAC has been optimized for a low noise floor and clean sound.

While for certain situations, you can use the 1.0 mode to enjoy up to 96kHz/24-bit PCM audio without needing any drivers.

I actually got the unit like a week ago. Been so busy with other reviews I was not able to test this till now. The form function, ease of use is one thing. But the sound of this unit. I am very impressed with the sound quality. Fiio might have another hit on their hands. So far tested the Fiio FD3 using this thing in balanced and music just flows from this unit with ample power to boot very high quality sound from this thing with excellent low noise floor. I was expecting a good sound but not one with this type of sophistication and dynamics. I have much more testing to do but so far so good. This thing is gonna sell in droves for Fiio. Get one when you see them on sale. I am willing to be you all will dig this thing. It sounds fantastic.

@FiiO How would this compare in sound quality to the Q3 using the balanced output?
Dear friend,

Which input mode will you use? If you are using the DAC with computer via USB generally, the K3 is a better choice since it does not have battery.

NEW K3:

Parts of parameters of balanced headphone output (2.5mm)
Output power 1≥344mW (16Ω/THD+N<1%, USB DAC)
Output power2≥220mW (32Ω/THD+N<1%, USB DAC)
Output power3≥26mW (300Ω/THD+N<1%, USB DAC)

Q3:

Balanced headphone output specifications (2.5mm/4.4mm headphone output port)
Output power 1Output power 2
300mW (32Ω, THD+N<1%, USB IN)325mW (32Ω, THD+N<1%, AUX IN)
35mW (300Ω, THD+N<1%, USB IN)190mW (16Ω, THD+N<1%, AUX IN)
180mW (16Ω, THD+N<1%, USB IN)100mW (300Ω, THD+N<1%, AUX IN)

And due to individual preferences, you could read the professional reviews and comparisons, as well as try out by yourself.

Best regards

Hello,
I am very interested in acquiring the new DAC-Amplifier,
How can I differentiate it physically or by its software from the previous version?
Thak you,
You could find the difference in the packing box. The outlooking of K3 and new K3 are same.

I just returned one since the sound kept cutting out, which I hope is just a faulty unit and not because my Mac is nearly a decade old. The older K3 never cut out like this one did. That said, the sound is fantastic and clearly an upgrade over an already great product with noticeably better end to end extension, instrumental separation, and clarity. Treble extension in particular is exceptional, and is competitive at double the price.

Sorry to about that. It seems to be a problem with the USB port or USB cable.
We apologize for any inconvenience in the meantime!

My "new" K3 UPC code on the box does not look like that at all. It has a sticker over it.
Some batch for some countries have certain bar code so on the box a sticker is over the original bar code.

Best regards
