Get MDR-XB1000 from XB500's? Or other headphones with headshaking bass?

Hi, I've recently gotten £200 ($330ish) and I'm looking to buy some new quality headphones, I've had the XB500's for a couple
months now and I love them, I wouldn't call myself a "basshead" as I listen to all genres of music but I'm looking for in my next pare of headphones
is as much bass as possible without making it sound terrible in the process.

My main question is, would it be worth it going from the XB500's to the 700's or the 1000's? I only paid $50 for
these 500's which I thought was a great price but I have no idea if paying the $100 for the 700's or $300 for the 1000's would
be worth the money.

And my other question is, is there any other headphone that will satisfy my needs?

Thankyou.

If I was you, I would get Ultrasone Pro 900s and then put those XB500 pads on them. I have the 900s with the XB1000 pads on them, the bass is the best I've ever heard on a headphone, and also the rest of the sound spectrum sounds worlds better than the XB line of headphones. I've had XB700s, XB1000s, Denon AH-D1100s, and Deep cup Darth Beyers, and the Pro 900s with XB pads is the best.

I have the XB1000's and they jam.

Its like having your own personal dance club, just be careful not to damage your hearing because they can put out some killer volume.

Heya,

Have you equalized your XB500's yet? If you bump the mids/highs up a few dB, it's amazing, they become different headphones yet still have all that bass. I'd equalize and listen a while first. I don't think it'll be worth buying a new set until you've thoroughly exhausted the XB500's full abilities.

Alternatively, check into the Denon D2000. They're only $219 at buy.com right now which is a steal. I'd go there for that price.

I take it you're not a pure bass head, so you need headphones that can do more than just bass.

Very best,

No problem, I'm just trying to stop you from going through the same path I went through. I wish someone would have told me to get the 900s ages ago. I've never heard the XB500s but I liked the XB700s more than the 1000s. I hear nothing but good things about Denon's and I own the AH-D1100s and they're pretty decent, you might want to go the Denon route with the D2000.

The pro 900's are like £400 though, and I thought spending £200 on headphones was going overboard, I can no way afford them unfortunately.
But thanks anyway.

Thankyou for the replies I appreciate it, I should exhaust the 500's but I was hoping to get something a little bigger, I don't like
how they hug your ears (was hoping for around the ear headphones).
However, just a few minutes ago I found some XB700's on ebay for £30 and I just couldn't resist, they're £70 on amazon so £30 is just a steal.
Although they are coming from hong kong so delivery will be a little bit of a wait, hopefully worth it though.

I think once I save up some more money (college student is never fun) I'll drop some on on the Ultrasone 900's, I'm just not ready to spend
£300 on headphones quite yet unfortunately and even if I did I doubt my Xonar DG soundcard will fully appreciate what the 900's have to offer.

Be careful when ordering from Ebay, especially from Hong Kong, etc. Some of the headphones on there are fake imitations, just a heads up. I hope your pair is the real thing.

As an added question, any ideas if the 700's will not touch my ear at all? I hope as after any period of use my right ear begins to sting
if it's being pushed into my head, my ears are quite small though.

I hate to break it to you, but I'm 90% sure they'll be fakes. The seller sells a few other commonly faked Sony's (among other things...). And it's been known that there are fake XB700's.
