I thought it might be interesting to share something with you, a very shallow article about the K701 from AKG, the HD600 from Sennheiser, and the DT880 from Beyerdynamic. I don't have a scanner so I just made a picture of it, it's only one page, and it's in german, but it's really nothing worth reading, and they say that the bass of the K701 is very broad, an opinion which I cannot share. It's from "SFT", not a very decent magazine, but my dad showed me this article and I figured that the ratings could be interesting.

EDIT: Had to remove the pics because I think I was going against the forum rules here.

They rated the K701 as best, the HD600 and DT880 had the overall same rating with the HD600 having the better performance out of the two.

About the only negative things that the article says:

HD600: thin earpads

DT880: in comparison to the AKG and the Senn, it lacks a certain presence

Surely the K601 would be a fairer comparison in terms of price?

The K 701 looks really sexy and professional in the second photo (little). Never thought they could look that good.

Magazines exist to sell ads, primarily. Therefore, whether the comparison is between headphones, cars, shirts, or anything else, results will almost always be a simple reflection of escalating list prices. This article was no exception.

That said, I didn't realize how stunning the AKG 701's look.

I'm actually putting money aside for a "non-electronica" HP als complement for my basshead cans. I quite like the DT880, the other candidate was the HD650. Never thought about HD600, but maybe I should.
