Wow, this thread is 9 years old but I'm going to dust it off because I'm a Genesis fan.
My first encounter with them was the Seconds Out album. This forum is apt because, on my old vinyl records, I couldn't understand a single word Phil Collins was singing. Some good head-fi was needed but I was blown away by the musicianship anyway. It has Phil Collins with the better singing and Peter Gabriel's better songwriting. That's a winning combination.
The Lamb Lies Down is my favorite studio album. It was recorded in the same old house that Led Zeppelin used at the time; Page said they could use it.
