That's a possibility.

I only know the 'red-shirt rule' from the first tv series.

Yeah, always the first to go. Usually goes something like:

Kirk: "Enson Smith, go check that noise outside the landing pod."
Smith (wearing a red shirt): "Aye-aye, Captain!"
.
. (a few minutes go by)
.
Smith: (unseen) "AAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!"

No even though I tested as a poser I know that that's the rule.
But I'm not sure whether the odd or even were the good movies.
