Dear HFers, I need your help.

I am searching for headphones that have a non-fatiguing sound signature and good bass (quality over quantity). It is for home listening, so open cans are okay. My ears are sensitive to harsh highs and this is why I am looking for a sound that is more laid back. Something along the lines of Atrio M5s in a full-sized form.

I have a few candidates in mind:

Grado SR-125

Beyer Dynamics DT770 Pro 80

Sennheiser HD580

Alessandro MS-1

I am willing to spend ~$200 but I can stretch my budget a little further. I would spend more on the cans if I didn't have to buy an amp as well. Keep in my mind that these will be my first real audiophile-level headphones.

Thanks in advance for your advice and words of wisdom

Just got a pair of Goldring DR150 today and after about 3 hours of listening I am enjoying them. I don't want to make a more definitive statement as I have listened to them for such a short period. They fall right in your price range so you might want to take a look at them and do some research.

You probably don't want grado's (or Allessandro's) if you don't like a fatiguing sound.

I would go for the dt770's. Pretty laid back imo, with a nice bass punch.

Look at either the Senns or Beyers. The Senns will have a more laid-back sound, the Beyers will have more low-end. Both can be improved with amps too, with the DT770s benefiting more.

Here is a vote for the DT770s.

I was wondering the exact same thing, I wanted my Atrio M5s in a full size can! I guess it's the DT770 for me

BTW, is there any difference between the DT770 and the DT770 Pro 80 ohm and is a Mini^3 enough to drive them?

Wondering the same thing... Will the Mini^3 drive this titan?

Also what about the AKG K701s? Would they fulfill my needs?
