I currently have a M-Audio Revoution 7.1 connected to my Cute encore to my DT880s. Im just wondering is it worth the money to get the Fubar II DAC. Is there a big enough difference for the price.

thanks yall

IMO money better spent by selling the revo 7.1 (the 5.1 would have been better than 7.1) and replacing with EMU 0404, then mod. it when convenient - an overall better choice is Juli@ (to my ears), but the 0404 is a choice more specific to your dt880 cans (will help your bass repro bloom somewhat in this case). But, admittedly I haven't heard combo 0404->Woo3 (or Earmax Pro)->dt880 combined.

The Fubar II and the Lite DAC-Ah are both under $200 and worth checking out.

Cannot give you input in term of quality, but I can provide you a picture

Note Ipod is not connected to the fubar, just there for scaling.

bump, I am in the same predicament, fubar II or emu 0404, which one is a better choice?

I can't comment on whether one is better than the other, several folks here on the boards like the Fubar, and its very useful to the laptop crowd who can't use a sound card.

On the other hand, the 0404 is a great place to start from. It provides a good source by itself. In addition, if your interest/funds increase, it can be used to digital out to an external DAC that takes SPDIF input.

hmm that was what i was thinking, probably get the 0404 then when i get more money i can always get the fubar II or a dac that takes optical in.
but its still a tough choice...
plus the 0404 is cheaper...

Speaking from personal experience I don't like sound cards as a source by them selves.. Not with high end headphone equipment anyway. Of course if your planning on getting a DAC later on then you could always start by getting the 0404.. But If your thinking of getting Fubar II anyway then you might as well just get the DAC since it has USB input and skip the 0404.

I'm using a modded 0404 and a DAC1 myself and I'm very happy with this setup.
