Here we go....

Both are noise-cancelling, so need power, however instead of using their own batteries, they draw power from the Lightning connector and also use their own, 24bit DAC and Amp in the cable to drive....

1) Even the greatest Apple fan must scratch his head about this.... Why buy a headphone I can exclusively use with just one brand?
And if Apple changes it's connector (though it doesn't happen very often, once every 10 years) you cannot use the headphones anymore without an additional adapter.

2) While using the headphones they use the power drawn from the iPhone, reducing the battery life of the iPhone. Now imagine you are out of juice, connect the power cord to (guess???) the Lightning connector and while charging you can't listen to your headphones. That's stupid.

I don't know. Using lightning for powered headphones blocking that port doesn't make so much sense to me.

Anyhow, at least the headphones can use their own DAC/Amp if they so choose now with this connectivity.

Cheers,
K
