Good people,
 
I'd appreciate any suggestions you may have for my little problem.  I bought an RS1i from eBay.  It looks great, sounds great but ... the owner was obviously a smoker.  The cans reek of cigarette smoke to the point where I find it really unpleasant to wear them.
 
I've tried leaving them outside on windy days, using leather cleaners, washing the pads, leaving them with vinegar in an airtight container ... but nothing makes a significant difference.
 
I don't want to give up on them so I'm wondering if anyone has any suggestions on how I could remove a deeply ingrained smoky smell from my Grados.

 Orange oil is another trick used by furniture enthusiasts, have
 to be careful though as it could damage the wood finish.

I would replace the foam pads first.
They will be the biggest smoke containers, since they are a porous material.
The wood not as much.

it'll come off eventually, my RS1 also smelled funny but it wears off over time.

I bet replacing the pads will get rid of 90% of the smell.

my headphones smell was more in the woods than the pads.

Thanks, folks.  Great suggestions.  I'll try replacing the pads first.  Then, I'll see if the Orange Oil does any good.  It's just a shame to see such sweet 'phones not being used.

For anyone with a similar smoke smell problem, Aizura was absolutely correct.  Changing the pads got rid of the majority of the problem and I don't even notice it now.  And the RS1is were worth it.
