They rock with EDM , Metal, Rock, Folk, pretty much anything. The bass response is unreal for a pair of headphones, the mids are clean and detailed, if a bit recessed, and the highs have pretty much the maximum amount of extension you can have without sibilance.

And it looks like the Purplehearts will go even lower in the Sub Bass, which is why i ordered them!

Gah! The wait for Purplehearts is going to be a test of patience even for me........and that's saying something!

Just ran across a deal for HD600's (plus a custom cable) on eBay, and the excuse I gave myself was "Well, these can fill in the wait until my X00's get here!"

So now I have:
SHP9500
K7XX
X2
HD600

I'm kind of expecting the HD600's to be a better K7XX, and the X00's more or less to be a better X2.

Come August when my Purplehearts show up, I might be faced with the tough decision of whether or not to sell everything but HD600 and X00 >.<

Someone stop me now...........

The only way to stop is to look into $1000 price range flagship headphones like the HD800, LCD-2, T1 2nd Gen.
Move away from the $400-500 mid range headphone.

Okay just checking.  I bought MTH-M50 headphones years ago and those earcups turned hard as a rock!  Don't want that happening again.

Beside the jokes :D I think protein leather is very durable, and even compare to genuine leather itself. I don't think my stock pads is going anywhere soon, and it had been 5 months already ? I will report back in a couple years :D. Anyways, Brainwavz do sell pads that can replace stock pads, and they are also protein leather, I think, because they look and feel almost exactly the same thing.

Haha maybe next year.....

My HD600's just walked in the door 15 minutes ago, and now I understand why they're so beloved.

I fully expect I'll love my Purplehearts more, when they get here.......but HD600 is my new daily driver for now.

My X2 is like a glass of hot sweet tea, whereas my HD600 is like a glass of cold fresh water.

Haha exactly! I like having 2 HPs with different signatures, I feel they compliment each other.

My pairing until now has been K7XX with X2.

My next pairing will be HD600 with TH-X00 PH.

Change the ear pads to shure velour pads, way more comfortable: http://www.amazon.com/Shure-HPAEC940-Replacement-Velour-Headphones/dp/B005OM06RG/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1460588055&sr=8-1&keywords=shure+ear+pads

Don't forget to add the DAC and amp that you will want to take advantage of those better headphones
