I like my Ultrasones. Always have. Lucky for me they aren't very expensive and not many people go for them which makes them rather cheap. Unless you want to go for their high-end stuff, which just no, don't.

I've certainly done my rounds here though.

Probably going to jump on this and retire my D7000s to a safe box so I put less wear and tear on them. Unless you all think doing a Lawton tune-up of the D7000s makes more sense.

  ...
They are smarter than that. Instead, they won't offer just the cups, so you have to buy 2 headphones, not one in order to have both variations.

You buying two of their headphones is better for them than you buying one.

...

Though the purpleheart looks stunning I think it doesn't make sense to own two similar headphones with not so perfect lacquer finish just for the sake of it.

I was part of the very first th-x00 drop and like others complained mine have minor imperfections in lacquer too. And I'm sure the purpleheart will be no different.

For those of you who would love beautiful cups...you can ask Lawton Audio for them from $500 to more than $900 a pair ?

Looks like the stock th-900 cups are the cheapest of all at $179 for a pair. http://www.lawtonaudio.com/saleitems.html (sold-out at the moment).
