Fostex x Massdrop TH-X00 Review
Jan 20, 2016 at 3:31 PM Post #4,112 of 12,086
I have been so busy since Christmas haven't had much chance to listen to my X00s, but to my untrained ears they are amazing, especially for the price.

Due to some emerging and unexpected expenses, however, I won't be able to keep them.  Not sure if it's appropriate to post here, but I put them up for sale here on the forums if anyone is interested.

Just swapped to TH-X00 after listening to my Flare R2Pros for over 3 hours. Gotta say, those tiny titanium wonders sound better... I love my TH-X00s but the Flares sound so natural it simply beggars belief...

I've been looking to want to buy the X00 for semi-portable use. Got the m100 instead, but I'm still considering getting the TH X00. Is the headphone too big to walk around with?

I'd say the issue is more the cable when walking around, it's way too long for that.  You will almost definitely need to get it recabled if that's your purpose.  The finish is also not very durable, I wouldn't put these in a backpack, like I would my SRH840.  It also doesn't isolate outside noise very well for a closed headphone.  To me it's more of an office headphone than an outside headphone.

Damn. I've read that the sound on the TH-X00 were pretty impressive. Maybe I'll stay off the TH-X00 for portable use.

Since I just got the m100, I can return them. Do you have any recommendations for portable headphones that may be would be comparable?

comparable to the M100 or THX00?  What don't you like about the M100?

I guess both haha. The problem for me with the M100 is comfort. I got the XL pads but they still get kinda sore after an hour to a few hours. After a while, I really have an urge to throw them off, ears just kinda feel....tired? I'm using them as my main headphones since I have my HE400i under replacement (cable plastic cover came off...). Just want something that would be a little easier on my ears.

Maybe I can find a used one for a good price later on haha. Will definitely leave a dent on my wallet if I bought it new

I always liked the Creatie Aurvana Live! (not the 2 though) for portable use.  Small, super comfortable, sounds great.  Not the sturdiest build quality, but it's also only like $60.

It would be same sized dent if you bought the TH-X00 new.

Now you mention it, may I ask how Aurvana Live! 2 compared to 1 for you?
Not really a digressive question as Aurvana Live! 1 was why I needed to buy TH-X00

And I had been considering Aurvana Live! 2 for a time before TH-X00 exists.
