I also love them. However the UAC 202 does sound harsh at times, and the fiio e11 while improving the impact of the sound also reduces the soundstage drastically. The E11 won't drive a HE-500?

Talking about amps and strictly desktop set-ups, the emotiva mini-x A-100 plays very nice with the He-500, although it is a speaker amp, so you would have to connect the phones with speaker taps.  There is a long thread on Head-fi that discusses this combo here:

Another thread is dedicated to DIY modding of the mini-x, if you're interested, but I personally don't find the modding necessary:

ugh, I've heard a lot of mixed reviews on those... powerful but poor sound in stock

It should maybe be okay. Though just to be clear the 500 is much, much harder to drive than the 400.

That's True, either way the PB1 is a pretty powerful portable amp, an honestly the PB2 I have sounds on par with my NFB10ES2, the only reason I don't use it as my main is because I don't have balanced output interconnectors! So yea the iBasso Pb2 would be another great purchase! It'll do an easy 2wPc an it drives my HE 4 nicely

Omg if I ever see anyone wearing these in public... yes that'll be me laughing hysterically in the background.

Yea, funny enough, that's the main downside of the wooden cups - they make them completely useless as portable because who in their right mind would walk down the street with so much mahogani strapped to their head?

If this was the 600, I would consider it, but I just can't imagine myself wearing the X00 in public...

How do these work with Pop&Electronica with female vocals?
Also anyone have tried these with Modi 2 - Magni 2 combo, how do they fare?
Registered to the drop yesterday hoping these'll get another batch, so far only reading positive about these.

These are fantastic with female vocals, as long as they're properly recorded obviously. La Roux's Bulletproof Abbey Road session is amazing. Using the Modi2/Magni2 and I have no issues with supplying enough power. It's about 9 o clock to noon for me on low gain. Bassy electronica is great thanks to the unreal low end on these.

I took mine on a plane ride recently-- with the Chord / AK240 combo.  Fantastic experience.  Would do it again in a minute, though I've resigned myself to accept that they're going to end up getting scratched a bit in transit "giving 'em a little character."

Now just waiting Fostex and Massdrop decide to give us another batch.
