Would wool felt do the same?
LOL funny you mentioned that cuz I tried wool felt too and didn't work. Waste of time and money. Buy the original damper and be done with it. I just checked again it's apparently in stock.

Anyone has experience with the Yaxi Pads, both the "Alcantara" and "Leather" Version?

Yes, both. Don't get the Alcantara pads, they muffle the sound too much. Leather is fine, but I prefer my current pads which are the Dekoni Sheepskin TH900 pads.

Well... today it happened. Headband snapped on the left side as I took my headphones off.

I'm using the original th900's. I know there's replacement headbands I could buy, but honestly this is the 4th time something has broken with this headband assembly... anyone know of a headband replacement mod that doesn't involve 3d printing?

If not, are there any tutorials or anything on how to replace the th900 headband?

I ordered them a day before your answer but i didn't want to cancel the order right away due to a very good price compared to other shops.
Tried them today after also installing a new headband (ZMF Crescent Strap, fits really perfect) and i have to say that they really sound nice, Bass has less rumble and more punch, mids are a bit forward but those highs or better said the sibilants are still a tad too sharp with the Yaxi Alcantara's (coming from ZMF Ori Hybrids with Attenuation Rings btw., i don't really remember stock pad sound that good).
What exactly have you meant by "muffled"? I'll give them more time the next days, maybe i can then focus on what you meant by that :)
I also feel the urge to order some ZMF Eikon or Universe Hybrids, any experiences with these pads here? :)

EDIT: compared them a bit longer to my Ori Hybrids and went straight back to them, sibilants on Yaxi Alcantara where way too harsh in many songs although i did like the pushed mids.
guess i'll order some Auteur and Universe Hybrids to get my ears a little bit closer to the driver and play with wider openings cuz Ori's create a tad too much reverb due to their depth.

I was curious to see if anyone has ever actually made their own cups instead of buying some from a company, like Lawton for example. I understand the process of making em and wood selection, which reflects the high price. For me this would be something more so done for cosmetic purposes, tho it would be interesting to see a what audio changes it would make. I have access to a cnc and laser(in case i wanted to do some kind of engraving), and possibly a source for wood. Id probably have to find a way to 3d scan a set of cups unless someone out there had a file of some they might have already done. Just an idea that ran through my head.

Keen to purchase a Fostex TH900MKII if anyone has one for sale. Been using the D7000 for years and I'm interested to give the TH900 a trial.

Bought these in October and haven't really touched my Clears. Totally enamored with these.
100%. I used to own the Clears and they are great headphones. However, they have long been sold and I still own the TH-900.
