I recommend that you use a different adaptor as the one shown above could brake considering the outer part remaining outside of the female plug.

Below adaptor will definitely not put too much pressure:

I dont like having a great vable than add a cheap cable at the end. Im focusing on the sound not what can go bad. In my case I use a portable amp/dac (Hugo, Mojo, Centrance, LH Labs) so theres no pressure cause I place it flat on the sofa or in my pocket. Guess it will be different on a desk top amp. With my other TH900 I cut the connector and added a 3.5.

That's indeed a much cleaner approach. But not everyone (me included) wants to cut their cable.

Very similar, but not the same. The hd6600/650 connectors need to be cut down a bit, and the locking mechanism isn't the same. They work, though.

These aren't out yet, but they are they only third party ones made specifically for fostex
