That's good to know because I nearly pulled the trigger at one point on the THX-00 purpleheat edition. Glad I stayed the course. I have found some recordings the th600 doesn't particularly shine on but for that I either switch to s Senn HD600 or Beyer 990

I have the Beyerdynamic DT990 600 Ohm premium and my Fostex TH 600 with Lawton Mod smoke the Beyerdynamic DT990, YMMV.

It depends on the genre, for classical, acoustic jazz and blues the DT-990 is much better than the TH-600 IMO.

Admittedly, when I said " smoked " I may have been over stepping, I simply prefer the Lawton modded TH 600 signature to that of the Beyerdynamic dt990 premium. Now that being said the DT990 are a very fine headphone indeed and I will pull from storage and give another listen then post results.

Just changed my th600 earpad. A bit smoother in highs i woulf say. Not night and day but a slight. Sounds good tho!

Pulled a trigger recently on these two bad boys (Fostex TH600 and thx00 Purple Hearts) and after listening to them for a couple of weeks (1 week to TH600) still can't tell which one I prefer more. Will have to spend more time with them as I'm planning on keeping only one.

I have a TH600, got a TH-X00, sent the TH-X00 packing since the ear pads and me don't agree

, they just don't fit right and I think due to this the TH-X00 was a bit distorted with some tracks and the highs were harsh at times.

Which version of thx00 did you have?

So far, I think I like th600 better for its soundstage and airiness, however I like the low end of Purple Hearts better. And thx00 look just gorgeous.

Had the mahogany, and I agree that the sound stage and air on the TH600 was better than the TH-X00 but the bass was better on the TH-X00 when I used the TH-600 pads on them, it was the only way I could really listen, the stock pads of the TH-X00 were too small and never gave a good seal for me, and I agree the mahogany wood does look better as does the purpleheart.

consider yourself lucky that the pads of the TH-X00 work for you

, for me they are so uncomfortable that even my RS2e and other Grado like builds with G pads (donut size pads) are more comfortable, they look like this:

they are next to my EL8 for size comparison.
Edit: the above doesn't mean anything if you don't have a EL8 so these might be a better:

I have th600 too. I even pick th600 over th900. It's preference haha

Could you please let me know which one has the best trebles out of the 2? I used to have the 600 and I'm considering the Purplehearts. Thank you
