For those of us with multiple headphones, which ones are you listening with now?

My recent toe-dipping into IEMs has inspired me to chase genres that suit specific headphone tunings rather than rely so much on EQ. I spent the afternoon chasing good genres for my Kiwi Ears Orchestra Lite, a very warm and mid-centric IEM. I landed on this classic from my younger years:

Endless Pain (1985), Kreator

Going back to this album now forty years later, I'm totally stunned by how quickly (and diversely) metal was evolving in the 1980s. It might be why I still don't listen to much metal from outside of the '80s. It can all already be found in that one decade.

Many decades back, I used to play the Oboe... even after so many years, hearing it in the hands of a good soloist brings me such levity.

Tidal 24/96 -> RME ADI 2 -> Beyerdynamic T1.3

Mozart Oboe Concerto KV314, Gabriel Pidoux, Mozarteumorchester Salsburg, Howard Griffiths

Apple Music -> Yggdrasil A2 -> Mjolnir 3 -> Verite Closed

I’d forgotten how fun this album is. I probably haven’t listened to it for close to ten years.

I’m also really loving my VCs with the Suede BE2 pads which I just threw on tonight. These really bring the magic back from the first time I heard these headphones, solid bass depth and slam, and great slam and punchiness throughout the rest of the range, they make them sound super dynamic again.

On the first page of this thread, it's all about which headphone you're using now but it has evolved into which songs you're listening now. :relaxed:

I'm listening with the one and only - the legend. Acquired new in 2017 and staying for life. The only thing I changed is to use ZMF hd800 leather pads. Super comfortable.

I'm guessing a lot of us don't really separate the two pursuits: gear and music. So why not share both?

Dang, do I love an oboe. It's the most haunting of all instruments, even when it's played upbeat.

I'm definitely for sharing both but if you look at the thread title, you will know why I pointed that out.

iMac > Qobuz > Holo Audio Spring 3 KTE (NOS) > Schiit Freya+ Tube Pre > Ferrum OOR & Hypsos > Hifiman Susvara

I need to be up early so this is the last listen before I close out tonight's Jazz session.

While it's become in-vogue these days to knock the Susvara, I've yet to come across a headphone that is so true-to-life in its sonic presentation.

The closest I've come is the Dan Clark Audio Expanse.

Adding a tube preamp to my chain with the Ferrum OOR/Hypsos has taken my listening experience to a whole new level. The Susvara delivers details in spades, timbre true-to-life accuracy. The OOR/Hypsos provides the power and authority to transients coupled with the tube holographic presentation and natural tonality from the Freya+ fed by the analog like NOS Spring 3 source. R2R/NOS DAC with a Tube pre and Solid State Power amp is musical nirvana.

@Singaravelan so you have a single full size headphones that are upgraded legend and landmark that almost everyone has been doing comparision against with all other cans plus collection of IEMs that also count as headphones so you are more than good to go and post some more here mate :)

It's a Moderator morning for me :)
You can always count on Moderator for a great beat, and it was exactly what I needed when diving to work this morning.

I'm still on the desktop setup, the V200 looks particularly scuffed in this light, but it does also see quite a bit of use, and I've bought it secondhand. Still love it, though, and don't think I'll ever part with it.
Tidal, SMSL DO100, Violectric V200 and DT770 Pro.

Loved it! Early morning treat. Thanks! One of the percussion is the instrument called "mridangam" , another ubiquitous childhood favourite.

Sennheiser HD650* [w/Youkamoo 4.4mm balanced hpc, Oratory 1990 EQ]<--Violectric V222 [balanced, w/BDR #3 cones]<--XLO Signature S3-2 XLR<--SMSL D400EX [w/Marigo Labs ceramic isolation cones, Super Slow, Sound 1]<--Apple Music:

(*Revisiting Schubert's majestic 9th Symphony but with the HD650 in lieu of the HD8XX. Truth be told, and with the V222, I equally--if not more than slightly--prefer the HD650.)
