Stand Up (1969) by Jethro Tull - The Steven Wilson remix which improved the first proper Tull album, which co-incidentally was also the first to feature Martin Barre. Much more folk oriented than the first which was basically a Mick Abrahams blues album. Anderson's flute playing isn't classic worthy but it fits into the songs very well and he was obviously putting a lot of time into improving his skills. Back to the HD800S because I just can't stay away from them, so, so comfortable for long sessions and they sound sublime to these ears.
One of my favorite bands with one of my least favorite names… cover art for this one isn’t great either. I was a bit iffy from the singles but luckily, the rest slams. Album is breakdown town, mosh pit call outs for days. Cool Ice-T collab lol.
My favorite Tull albums are Aqualung and Living in the Past, which is a double album compilation of several of their first albums along with a live recording. Can’t go wrong if you check those out, I’ve heard them hundreds of times and
Is Ian Anderson for real? How is Martin Barre supposed to feel, being sacked after decades of being a major part of Jethro Tull? As you might have surmised, I saw the same article earlier and was none too happy.
Very early on Anderson had everyone in the "band" on contracts so that sort of violates the notion of "band". Anderson is a sharp businessman and very wealthy.
I found out a long time ago that part of making touring life easier and keeping yourself sane and entertained was making life on the road as close to feeling like life at home as possible. Being able to pursue this hobby at a high level and with plenty of variety while I'm away has been great for helping to prevent burnout during long and often grueling tours. In fact, just the other day I was thanking our manager and tour organizer for making that possible because it really has increased the quality of life on the road so to speak. I know that probably sounds ridiculous, but it's the truth.
Word. Nothing at all ridiculous about it. Surprisingly jives with my experience in a totally different context. I spend most of my workday writing at home. I'm a researcher, so unfortunately it's not mindless work and requires an exhausting level of attention and focus. My headphones are what makes it work for me. They help me to stay focused, stay upbeat, and give me just enough distraction to keep going. I totally understand.
An interesting difference: because I spend most of my days working from home, I actually need to feel like I'm not at home! Headphones get me there.
I could easily say Benefit, Aqualung, Minstrel in the Gallery or Songs From the Wood but my personal secret pleasure is Crest of a Knave, it's absolutely stuffed with great songs and plenty of variety, so you don't get bored.
its getting late but couldn’t resist some loud, live Talking heads to cap off the evening music. Got the ZMF Auteurs cranked up off the LP’s tubes and my brain is getting a serotonin bubble bath
[Atlantic: released July, 1979.] One of the albums of the time. Still a great listen. Arrangements: ; vocals: ; bass & comping: ; and Nile Rodgers killer suave rhythm guitaring !!!

Such an amazing album. Check out their BluRay release of the concert if you haven't seen that yet. It's so awesome. Can't understate David Byrne's artistic personality.
