named after a Twilight Zone episode (my favorite show), this thrash/mathcore group have been invading my ears since I was like… a freshman in high school. With some added jazz and post hardcore elements throughout, highly recommend if you like technical metal.
Neo 5, outside enjoying the sunset with the green leaf mod
Finally yanked yourself away from Szalayis, eh?!
Listening to Moby album after eons.
That triggered up this absolutely whimsical fun hilarious, and yet poignant pod where Moby is involved in a very different way. enjoy!

For now! Haha I’ve been really enjoying hanging out with the Neo 5 the last week. Trying to change up my IEM game since I really can’t use my over ears. Finally yanked yourself away from Szalayis, eh?!

MPIA3 - Your Orders
Should probably be listening to something a little more… calm before bed but whatever the Neo 5 is shaking with acid techno right now, it has a mind of its own.

I've had a lot of hifi products over the years but the Woo Audio WA8 Eclipse may be in my top three products of all time. That's a bold statement but this thing in a transportable Class A tube headphone Amp / DAC combo that makes anything you pair with it sound incredible.
iMac > Qobuz > Holo Audio Spring 3 KTE (NOS) > Schiit Freya+ Tube Pre > Woo Audio WA8 Eclipse > 64 Audio U12t (Mx Apex Module)

Buddy Miles is such a gangster behind the kit! I used to wish I could pull off a fro lookin' half as cool as that dude.
Once again, to keep things topical:
Stopped for a bit which means I can break out some open backs. I wanted something fun and not too analytical so I'm running the Hifiman Ed XS from my modded Schiit Lyr (70s Amperex Orange Globe ECC88s) with the Modi . Multibit 2 decoding the coax out from a Wiim Pro.
Up next in my wee hours of the morning queue is a killer little number from 2013, The Other End by Martin Miller. Instrumental, prog-infused loveliness by Miller all the way through. I'm definitely a fan of the way he plays guitar. The technical prowess is obviously there, but dude doesn't try to turn speed wanking into a genre, instead focusing on emotive, modal playing that I find to be much more engaging. I mean, there's a time and place for shredding, but it can be tiring over time the same way a drummer running paradiddles and blast beats on a double bass pedal at 800 BPM becomes lame when it's just that track after track. Miller shows off plenty of chops, but in the context of a broader musical palette that's enjoyably diverse.

I'd love to audition the Feliks Audio Envy. It's on my shortlist for a future pickup. Pairing it with the May must be incredible.Roon > Tidal > Bryston BDP-1 > Holo Audio May KTE > Feliks Audio Envy Performance > Hifiman Susvara
It really is something... the May kinda wipes the floor with the Yggdrasil that has served me well for many years.I'd love to audition the Feliks Audio Envy. It's on my shortlist for a future pickup. Pairing it with the May must be incredible.

Love Copeland! Give Mae a listen, they were both on the scene during the same period and similar genres.Copeland - Revolving Doors
Found my relaxing bed time music… love this band, this album is a reimagining of their biggest songs with a full orchestra.

Last one before I crash. I'm on the Hifiman HE5LE Code X and still running off the Lyr/MMB2/Wiim Pro signal chain. The Lyr really is a wonderful amp (or series of amps really) as far as incredible cost to performance ratio, tweakability, and raw power for driving planars without breaking the bank goes.
At the top of my current queue is a 2007 album some of my indie fans out there might remember, Rotten Apples by Vauxhall Broadcast. This album came out when the stripped down, blues influenced sound was starting to take over from the post-rock styles seen earlier in the decade in the indie genre. This album and a few others are really the beginnings of the legacy that has left bands like The Black Keys, Kings of Leon, and others of their ilk kings of the 2010s indie rock sound. Though not as polished or as catchy as some of the work by those aforementioned giants of the genre, Vauxhall Broadcast put together an imminently listenable and super fun album with Rotten Apples and it continues to grace my queues with reasonable regularity when some nostalgia for indie from my younger days hits.
I wish you all a good night or good day depending on where you are...
P.S. David Denis is one of my favorite vocalists from the genre in this period. Dude's instantly recognizable for indie fans that were around then and he does that controlled slightly off-tune delivery as well as anyone in the game, IMO.
