The Verlaines - Bird Dog (1987)
A unique LP - Clever angular pop meets baroque classical - but from a Blue Nun (NZ) label stalwart - so there is an edge, and also interesting lyrics and moods. They went mainstream a few years later sadly, with some sporadic good stuff, but not nearly in the class of Bird Dog.
Some Disenchanted Evening - Almost as good as Bird Dog

My favorite too. Soulful stuff. I got mine on vinyl sometime in '85. Lots of associated memories.Grado RS-1x << Woo WA6 (Gen 1: Mullard NOS GZ-34, pair Brimar CV455 KB/FB):[Columbia: released June, 1985.] A utterly fantastic rendition of my favourite Wynton Marsalis album. An absolute must listen. Technique is astonishing, emotion is searing ... across all tempi. This pertains to all the musicians.

Nice sounding modern jazz album. The AWAS does sound great with jazz imo big fullbodied sound and great timbre.
