For those of us with multiple headphones, which ones are you listening with now?

Up bright and early this morning and ready to rock. I had a hankerin' to run through some of my budget/affordable IEMs today just to see what I like and what I should give away to friends, kids, and family. First up, I picked the TRI Starsea to run off the Hiby RS6 R2R DAP. The Starseas are a simple 1 DD 2 BA hybrid with two tuning switches which I pretty much permanently have on the down position which gives them the bassist presentation. To be honest, these are one of the best 1DD 2BA simple, affordable ($119 when released) bybrids I have come across. The bass has really satisfying pucnh and articulation, the mids are clean and clear while being only slightly recessed, and the highs or tuned very competently with the extension to give you detail, but just the right restrain to keep them sibilance free and give them a liquid smooth presentation. The Starseas are hands down one of my favorite affordable hybrid.

On deck in the queue is Robben Ford's 2023 live album, Night in the City. The funky, jazzy feel to this album with Ford tying it all together has made it a really fun listen through the Starseas which are a very nicely tuned and accurate tonal and timbral properties with plenty dynamics and every to. I find listening to the music on them very enjoyable. Her goes nothin'! 🤘😎

@JAnonymous5150 could tell us something more about how Hiby RS6 R2R DAP is doing as dac please? Sometimes when traveling I'm fed up with all the cables between Mojo/Mojo2/iDSD Signature and source. I'm starting to thinking about smaller and less complex setup with just headphones + DAP yet I would not like to loose musicality and smoothness of Mojo/iDSD Signature + both can drive most full-size headphones pretty well too. I think that ifi micro iDSD Signature with Audeze MM-500 offers great synergy. While I rather don't travel with MM-500 I do currently with Focal (either Stellia or Clears) but would also like to be able to drive some planars from time to time.

Finally got a working CD transport in my chain, so I dusted off the old CD collection.

The upshot? With no streaming software in the mix I'm no longer able to apply EQ. I'm enjoying the M1570s bareback today.

And for our next experiment, let's dial up the intensity just a tad:

... and while I'll be one of the last people who'd claim to have golden ears I could swear the music sounds more "liquid" coming off CD as compared to streaming Deezer off my phone.

Maybe I'm wrong, but either way it sure is fun running this research.

It's a super-high-end unit I just purchased from a nearby specialty store known as "Value Village"

Cost me fifteen bucks, so I damned well better be impressed.

Work session, but with the laptop, so I can sit at the listening chair :)
Alannah is keeping me company, really like her super textured voice, and the HEKS is helping enhance it 👌
