For those of us with multiple headphones, which ones are you listening with now?

Hello to my co-favorite thread on Head-Fi (earbuds roundup is really fun too)! It's good to see you guys again. This evening I've got my 4 day old (to me) Focal Elex running off a similarly new Schiit Magnius with the Gustard R26 decoding and streaming for me. So a few months back I borrowed a pair of Elexes to check out and found the bass to be boomy and out of balance with the rest of the signature. Turns out, dude who loaned them to me forgot to reinstall the stock pads before he shot them to me and those pads make a huge difference. With the stock pads, the bass has tightened up significantly and the detail and extension in the air section is much better. These have turned out to be a pretty cool BDay present. 😎

Currently at the top of my queue is a 2008 release entitled Labyrinth by Special Providence. I don't remember if I came across this band in Qobuz or Bandcamp, but I now own everything they've got up on Bandcamp because they're just so good. Their drummer is creative and technically sound. The guitarist can really rip, but doesn't get caught up in wanking for style points. And the bassist, holds everything together, driving the songs without pretension. Overall, I just have fun listening to these guys throwin' it down!

To those about to rock, I salute you! 🤘😎

Bonus pics of a very cool knife I was also gifted. It's hand forged Damascus steel with Rosewood grips in case I have any other blade fiends out there.

I'd be shocked if anyone said either my dac/amp setup or my headphone. Centrance m8 into HD700's. It's been the only headphone combo that produces highs the way I want them and also makes VOIP crystal clear. A song I absolutely love on this combo.

*Puts on best Australian accent*

And here we see the illusive Sennheiser HD700 owner in his natural habitat. Little is known about where these rare creatures spend the majority of their lives...

LOL Seriously though, I have wanted to try the HD700s for quite a while now, but haven't managed to get a pair on my ears. I almost bought a pair a while back, but it would've been a total shot in the dark and I managed to restrain myself. It seems like those who have tried and/or own these headphones either love or hate them and very few are in between which is a big part of what makes them intriguing for me.

So do you daily drive your 700s or are they more of a rotated pair you use for certain genres and applications? What genres do you think they click best with? Any other pairs you've heard that you think are somewhat similar? Feel free to ignore the questions if you don't feel like answering.

Happy listening! 😎
