For those of us with multiple headphones, which ones are you listening with now?

At this very moment I am comparing my brand new Hifiman Edition XS w. stealth magnets (was delivered just a few hours ago) to my 2-year old HFM Ananda. Looks like the Ananda is heading for retirement as a display-only item in my collection. I dont't know if it has to do with its stealth magnets and nanothingy but the XL punches above the Ananda in almost every aspect, yet costs less. Trickle-down effect perhaps?. Earlier on I did a comparison with my Arya sans stealth magnets and while I can't really say at this moment if the XL came out ahead but it sure gave the Arya quite a run for its money. We'll see what happens with those two once the XL is broken in.

Traveling with my Sennheiser HD 598. These are weird headphones. Fantastic soundstage, but far too soft and muddled in the upper bass region to sound remotely close to neutral. Looks and sound quality-wise, they're the headphone equivalent of a leather beanbag chair: luxurious and cheap at the same time. I got them over a decade ago to replace a pair of HD 558's (my first "big kid" headphones) that I lost on an international flight. I like how lightweight and insanely durable they are, so I can just toss them into a bag and know they'll be fine. They're cheap enough that if they do get lost or damaged, I won't be heartbroken. With a bit of EQ, they sound good enough with anything I might listen to. My long-time first choice for travel.

Here Comes The Rain (2024) by Magnum - Release day for the new album but just five days since Tony Clarkin's demise, so I would imagine moods are mixed within the band at this moment. As Clarkin was the sole writer of their music and lyrics I would imagine that this will be their final studio album, which is a shame as the band sound as though they have plenty of life left in them and Bob Catley's voice is as good as ever even at the age of seventy six. This is my third listen so far and I'm loving it, so I will be adding it to the collection at some point. Even though I'm still loving the Denons I think I'll be moving on to the RS-1x over the weekend, maybe even try the F-pads on it.

Listening to "Utopia Symphony" on Utopia. I just wanted to do it, haha.
"Utopia Symphony", composed by Vladimir Martynov, is a wonderful piece. He is my favorite contemporary composer.

Cannot get enough of Don Cherry. The more I hear, the more impressed I am. He plays hard.
