Thoughts: Treble is prominent, and there's a hardness to it, but it's not a huge problem. Just lower the volume a little bit. The treble on the X2HR would make you physically wince, whereas this can... stun or daze. It's like a Treblehammer. I've never experienced this before. I'll probably shift it to the final chain (amp is in the mail already lol) when I've put it together. Should be a bit of a more pleasant solid-state sound than Topping neutrality for this headphone.
Apart from that, I could ask for the mids to come somewhat more forward, but I knew what I was buying, and what for: bass. And the fact that I haven't felt like not listening with it- walking away in disgust, which I will do if a headphone offends me- and that even though my ears are ringing more than usual at the end of the day, I keep listening, says something. It just needs that little push from 90% enjoyable to 100%.
At the moment though, it's giving a little bite to softer sounding albums, like this:
