[Polydor: May, 1971.] After many listenings, still an amazing ‘debut’ (post-Taste) album.

Amazon Music Unlimited > SMSL SU9 > Schiit Asgard 3 > Grado RS-1x :L3000:

Hackney Diamonds (2023) by The Rolling Stones - Best Stones album for decades, it really rocks and Mick and Keith certainly don't sound like a pair of 80 year olds (Keith is 79 so nearly counts). Charlie Watts is only on two of the tracks, Steve Jordan takes over the drums on the rest. There's also a bunch of stars on here to help out, including Elton John, Paul McCartney, Lady Gaga and even Bill Wyman makes an appearance. was in two minds whether to use the SR325x but the RS-1x won out in the end and they certainly open the music up so I can peek inside and I really like what I see/hear. I think this album is going to be getting a lot of play on my set up...... Going round again now.

Is the album mastered / mixed to have the raw sound that characterises Blue & Lonesome?

No, Blue & Lonesome was a blues album, recorded in three days, which mostly accounts for the "raw" sound. Hackney Diamonds is much more of a rock album, though there are blues on there and took something like six weeks of studio time in total plus mixing and mastering on top. It sounds far from raw to me though it still has the Stones sound, just a well recorded and produced variant.

I like this. It has an edge characteristic of a much, much younger band. Impressed. Curious to hear how much they will be able to replicate this live & how much is studio wizardry :)

Felt - intricate dueling guitars reminiscent of Television for most of its career, including this one. Eccentric, Athmospheric Brooding - still one of my favs from the UK Indie 80's scene. On the venerable HD-600.

[MusicMaster: April, 1991] A great recording with a stellar roster. The title track, written by pianist Cedar Walton, is a lilting, rollicking romp - now a jazz ‘standard’.

The perfect album to chill to after a long work day. Every song is 👍. Listening on the KLH Ultimate Ones right into my IPad. Nice and simple.

Electric guitar sounds amazing when listening to the K340's. I haven't found anything yet that can match their timbre.
