Foxtrot at Fifty + Hackett Highlights (2023) by Steve Hackett - Dropped yesterday and it's brilliant!!! Currently listening to an epic performance of Supper's Ready and it's never sounded better. To me, Steve Hackett was the heart and soul of Genesis and when he left they became a shadow of what they were. I just had to reach for the RS-1x for this, it just seemed the natural thing to do, some of my other cans would have sounded very good with the album but none would have sounded as life like. Something that strikes me is that Nad Sylvan sounds very, very close to Peter Gabriel from the Foxtrot era, it's uncanny really that Steve Hackett has brought back to life a fifty year old album and it sounds as fresh as it did back in 1972.

The Journey (2023) by Matteo Mancuso - Described by Steve Vai as "the evolution of the guitar", this twenty six year old virtuoso from Sicily is on another planet! He plays rock, fusion, jazz or anything else that takes his fancy and does it finger style like a classical guitarist. I've a feeling we might be looking at the next Guthrie Govan (best guitarist on the planet) - I don't think I've ever heard a guitarist with such total control of his instrument. Stuck with the RS-1x as I wanted resolution for lots of detail and, well, guitars.

I've never had the pleasure of watching Supper's Ready performed by any of the old guard, but I saw The Musical Box (a Genesis tribute band) do Foxtrot at a local venue many years ago and the experience left an impression to this day.

*edit* Still rocking the Tres 45, and I feel like live music is another of their strengths. With many live recordings, the upper mids and treble can get polluted with venue acoustics and stray reverberations, so the Tres' relatively soft presentation in these frequencies is an addition-through-subtraction kind of deal.

Mr. Flagio - Take a Chance is one of the greatest Italo records ever made. Maybe that's something that's too easily agreed upon, but it sounds great through these.
