I'm not usually a fan of big band jazz, but the horn section here hits so very hard 😁

Plus you have to smile at the Count’s “two finger” piano playing! Now - if you like what you heard, you must listen to this album:

[Reprise: July, 1966]. A classic performance, well recorded. Through RS-1x, it is hair raising in its musical excitement and acoustics - I guarantee that !!

lol, had it cued up, ready to go. I have heard it before several times. Nice to hear Frank in a happy mood, not usual for him.

It was this album that lead me into listening to a lot of Quincy Jones's back catalogue

Live Dates (1973) by Wishbone Ash - I eventually forced myself to give the Grado RS-1x a rest, grabbed the HE400i's and decided that a bit of Wishbone Ash would sound suitably awesome. I remember when this originally came out and I really gave it a lot of play on my record deck, with the most played track being the brilliant Phoenix. I much prefer the live version to the studio version, it has so much more life and it takes me back to when I saw them play it on stage - I was leaning on the stage at Andy Powell's feet, so couldn't have had a better vantage point.
