For those of us with multiple headphones, which ones are you listening with now?

Today is the Hemps with F-pads facing off between two very hot tube amps on a hot day.

JRiver Media Center > SMSL SU9 > Schiit Asgard 3 > Grado RS-1x

Electric (2013) by Richard Thompson - I know, I know, I've been using the same headphones for a week already - but I've been breaking/wearing them in and they now feel like a well worn, comfy pair of shoes (not that I wear shoes on my head often). I can't honestly say they sound better than they did last week because I can't remember what they sounded like a week ago, I think audio memory is measured in seconds. What I do know though is that they sound ridiculously good and are by far my best purchase in the audio domain thus far. They have certainly changed my listening habits, I'm listening much more to well recorded music that's full of subtlety and space, heavy rock is definitely getting the cold shoulder - now if I were to change over to my SR325x then that would all change.

Without a digital transport for the desktop stuff currently, anything not on a CD goes through DAPS -> SAP-11 -> Athena.
Wow I need to dust... camera's too revealing. Anyway, this is a good one. The Athena is just a good time.

Hemps again, but back to Shipibo pads. Today is mostly the Valhalla 2 with new Amperex tubes. Rolling lots of Brand New Music today.

I have never given Rufus much time, but having listened to this album, that may have to change.

What should be the next of his to listen to?

Such Ferocious Beauty (2023) by Cowboy Junkies - New music for new(ish) phones, this album sounds so good through the RS-1x, it really makes the most of the imaging too, just the perfect kind of music for the Grados. There is definitely some truth to the rumour that once you've heard one Cowboy Junkies album, you've heard them all - and not necessarily in a bad way. Basically they have stood still, with barely any development over the last 40 years or so BUT one could counter that with "if it ain't broke, don't fix it".

To be honest, this is the first of his albums since I heard his very first one. Sorry, I can't really help you out! LOL :deadhorse:

I bought a Loudon Wainwright album 35 years ago and it put me off the whole clan. 😁

I thought this album was excellent. I love a covers album.
