Looking forward for a weekend with Focal Stellia. Starting with one of most challenging Pearl Jams track, it is mixed in such a way it may lack dynamics almost completely. I have no idea why somebody did it like this but despite being great track with great lyrics (not so obvious) as side effect is that if you are looking for testing dynamics of your amp/headphones pairing this is a go to song.

Charcoal Grace (2024) by Caligula's Horse - Release day for the Aussie prog-metalists latest album....... and it's a corker! I've been waiting for this one for a while and it doesn't disappoint. Oddly it sounds really good through the RS-1x, they normally get a bit shouty if the music gets too heavy but they are behaving impeccably and I've got it cranked.
I've got the new Caligula's Horse playing on my Grado GH1. The sound felt a bit too laid-back on my other headphones with a warmer profile, so I had to switch to the GH1 to inject more energy into this fantastic new album.
Listening with my newly acquired Focal Elex. I think I'm ready to admit that I'm a bass head. And nothing I've tried (<$1000) can slam as hard as Focals. The Elex might just be the slammingest headphones I've heard (from Focal or anyone else).

Dinner Party is one of the best "supergroup" albums of the past decade. It's also one of the bassiest.
My attention is drawn to Attrium's and Utopia 22 as well, we'll see if that ever happens though as I have to buy "blind", due to being in the middle of nowhere
It is next to impossible (unless one is a complete ignorant) to not be moved by a wonderful music with message. I've first heard this album on speaker setup during demo. Who ever selected this album knew exactly what he is doing. The only problem during this demo was that most people were arguing about next album/track selection instead of just listening. Finally a SACD hybrid CD arrive today in post What could be a better way to test Focal Stellia than listening to this album.
A special thanks must go to @u2u2 first for his writeup about Stella/Utopia set and secondly for brilliant posting here another brilliant album which always remands me Hope by Hugh Masekala.
My favorite live Dead show from Fillmore. The first jam Help on the way/Slipknot/ Franklins Tower is sublime. Rest is great as well.

Great album. The Dead had taken a hiatus (a year or so) and this was a semi-surprise performance. (this is when they first started following me. They told me it was a hiatus and not a break-up. They used to send 45's with new songs on it). This was their first live performance of Help on the Way/Slipknot/Franklin's. It wasn't quite the surprise as some of the band members were announced previously as solo acts. I listened to it a couple days later on KMET in LA. Anyway, good memories.

Close To The Edge (1972) by Yes - On a solid nostalgia trip tonight playing my Yes collection in order and so far I'm up to Close To The Edge, which is probably the absolute peak of their success. There was a large step up in quality between Time And A Word and The Yes Album, which is where classic Yes came together and that quality continued to grow through Fragile and peaked on Close To The Edge - after that egos went a bit crazy and the music suffered. The SMSL stack is doing a great job of detail retrieval and the Grados are piping pure genius directly into my ears, Chris Squire's bass sounds amazingly crisp - Very happy ears
