[Returning to the pensive Yoshio Suzuki. Title track. Enjoying the filigreed resolution, the micro-dynamic incisiveness, the rich and delicate tonal spectrum of the Edition 11. The D400EX/SP400 synergy is just right, too. Paired with the D400EX, the SP400 is easily my favorite of the amplifiers I have on hand.]

Firsthand reaction to the FT5? [Nice-looking set of planars!]
Out of the box, it was underwhelming, but has improved a lot throughout the day. Brain burn-in, I would say.
Much more affection for these at 8:21PM than at lunchtime.

They look very well built!
They are heavier than they look and have a nice solid feel. Very comfortable too. I have been wearing them for six of the last eight hours and they still feel good.

Forgot to mention that they are pretty much all metal, which is kind of cool.

I watched a couple of the reviews. Did you get two sets of pads with them?

Aeon 2 open (Balanced). Mac Rebennack had been performing since the late '50's. This was his first album in 1968 ( I believe). He invented his alter ego on this album after which he would forever be known as Dr. John.

Right now I have the new DCA E3 closed backs being driven by the GS-X Mini with the Gustard R26 performing DAC and streamer duties. This is my first session with these headphones so I'm still very much in the experimenting phase and I definitely won't be coming to any permanent decisions on them until I have a chance to try them on a wider array of amps and DACs, but thus far they are quite impressive. I have heard some people saying they're better than the DCA Stealths (which I also have sitting right here), but I have to say that I disagree. I can see how some might prefer their tuning over the Stealths, but I think the Stealths still offer greater technical performance in most areas. I personally think the Stealths are the best closed back headphones I have ever heard for neutral tuning and critical listening (the best closed backs I have heard overall really). The E3s are certainly a bit more musical and energetic though. My plan was to hear the E3s versus the Stealths and only keep one, but if they keep impressing like this, I'm thinking I may just have to sell of my Aeon 2 Closed and another set and call it even lol! 🤣

Right now, I'm listening to a 2023 release from Harry Stafylakis entitled Calibrating Friction. This is a great album for testing microdetal, microdynamics, and timbre. Not to mention the fact that it's also just a fun listen. It's a very cool melding of classical soundtrack sounds with some rock elements leading to some very unique music. I would highly recommend you guys give it a whirl! 🤘😎
