Curious to read your thoughts. When the Audioquest HP's were discontinued and discounted, I went by the local store and spent an hour and a half testing out the NightOwl Carbons, Grado PS500e's and Nighthawks. The only ones that I liked were the Carbons and happily took them home.
A month later I hated them and sold them as fast as possible.
It was lesson that an in-store demo doesn't mean a whole lot.

I didn't know that you like Supertramp. I knew them because my father is a lover of their music (I would love to have lived in the 70's when a lot of people listen to that music while smoking some forbidden things ... making the psychedelic rock more digestible ). It's curious because I was listening to "Queen - A kind of magic" and when I started to write this the next album of my rock playlist started and guess it: Supertramp - Paris (1980), I love this album with the HD 800 but with the 9200s the treble is irritating my ears . I swapped to Pink Floyd - Animals and is a better experience.
