Got both a new amplifier and streamer/DAC coming in the next week, so a lot of new ger to play with, and add a bit more variety to the gear I use for listening 😊

Incidentally, the dac/amp of the newer apple silicon version MBP is phenomenally good. I have stopped using a dedicated dac and amp for headphone listening.
Just swapped a two year old M1 Pro for an M3 Max MBP and this thought keeps coming to mind as Apple has done a very good job. These new machines work superbly with my easiest to drive IEMs right through to my HD800 and 820... I get over this with a fix of glowing tubes or dancing VU meters. Today it is meters.

Band On The Run (1973) by Paul McCartney and Wings - Been listening to Wings albums tonight in memory of Denny Laine (RIP) and this album is the one he considered the best, and I agree with him, it's probably the best album McCartney made outside the Beatles. Recorded in Lagos in a ramshackle studio with just an 8 track tape machine and for the most part performed by Paul and Linda McCartney and Denny Laine, Paul taking up duties on bass, drums, keyboards and lead guitar and Laine playing rhythm guitar and percussion. The only change I made to the gear is the Asgard 3 in place of the Vali 2 but the RS-1x go just as well with either.
Denny Laine- wow, one of the best, very sorry to hear.

Beyerdynamic DT 770 Pro 80 / Sony MDR XB500 / OneOdio Pro 50 (lol) / JBL Tune 710BT

I use the Sony's on my PC via headphone amp (Douk U3 mini) and JBL's for everything else, The JBL's sound better overall than the rest of my selection, i love the smooth detailed mid range and they have pretty decent bass response.

The Sony's have a ton of bass which guess I got used to, I like the overall sound signature even knowing the bass is boosted, the upper end of the treble is a little cleaner or sharper than the rest but never harsh, they also loose some of their exagerated bass as the ear cushions wear which I finally realized isn't a bad thing (I've replaced the cushions 3 times so far since 2012).

Beyerdynamics sound great but lacking in bass vs the others and the OneOdio was just a mistake (don't trust Amazon reviews lol) If anything I can now demonstrate a crappy sounding bass boosted headphone vs. the Sony's, for $35 I didnt bother sending the OneOdio back, at least they're comfortable and have a mic I was using them for phone calls before getting the JBLs.

Only issue with JBLs is the clamping pressure on your head, least comfortable of the bunch but the pressure has started to ease up over time, my ears aren't sore anymore after extended use at least, battery charge lasts 7-9 days too which is nice. They're also my first wireless headphone and gotta say being free of a wire can be really nice at times.
