The NDH-30 are more forward, more detailed, more tonally and dynamically resolving. There just seems to be "more there" with the Neumann in terms of rendering information and filling available space in a balanced, coherent manner. Like the MM-500, the NDH-30 do not impart their own character to the playback but transmit the recording in its integrity. How are they compared to the NDH 30, sound wise?
The Amiron Home have a slightly smoother presentation with a more pronounced sense of spatial separation between elements, heightening the perceptions of airiness and transparency but at the same time these elements can sound overly individuated, compacted and slightly disparate [vis-a-vis the NDH-30]. The Amiron Home do seem to impart a characteristic smoothness, airiness, sweetness and finesse independent of the recording.
. . . with all that said, I have tended to have longer listening sessions with the Amiron Home . . .
NOTE 1:
These comments based on amplification with the Hagerman Tuba with which the NDH-30 seem to strike the optimal balance between native technical prowess and a Tuba-enhanced musicality. I tend to prefer the Amiron Home amped by the SMSL SP400 [the NDH-30 can sound a bit dryer and less musically involving on this amp].
NOTE 2:
The Amiron Home and the NDH-30 are run with different cables.
Will try to do some more back-and-forth and update later.
Update 1:
The Amiron Home might be just a bit tighter and more articulate in the lower bass.
