Hi,

After formatting my PC I can't get Foobar (wasapi) to work. It won't play my music files. It won't even begin playback and the completion-bar doesn't move. However I can play the same files just fine by using another output than wasapi.

I have an Xi-Fi music soundcard /w SPDIF out connected to my DAC MAGIC and then further connected to my head amp.

I have the original Creative X-Fi drivers installed which I hadn't before I formatted. I don't know if it makes a difference.

Did you by any chance install XP?

I just re-installed Vista 64-bit and now it won't work. There were no problems before formatting.

Yes, the problem only occurs when using wasapi as output.

what about the sound card drivers ?
one needs waveRT drivers for wasapi to work.

Lower the sound buffer length. A sound buffer that's too long will cause wasapi to not start.

I've lowered it as a far as 200 ms and playback still won't start.

A ugly quick-fix is to use ASIO output and ASIO4ALL. With ASIO4ALL is enough to just pause the playback rather than turning foobar off, to let other applications play audio.

Did you set up WASAPI correctly? You need to make sure it's outputting to the correct device.

I still haven't solved the problem with getting wasapi playback to work. Any more suggestions, guys? Please.

These settings may be wrong for you. (I don't know if it matters tho)
