The Utopia's are tough to beat, but every time I listen to the Z1R the more and more I realize how impressive their sound and build is. Sony hit the mark when it came to tuning these. You have something special.

It better be good for portable use so it can replace my Shure SE846. Else I won't buy it

I will also have to see how it looks on me in a mirrow when I audition them. The NAD HP 50 was a no go based on looks for example.

Anyone keeping score on Focal driver problems (aside from Focal)? Is it mostly the Utopia with its Be driver and former-less voice coil? Or have there also been driver issues with Elear's?

Following the recent questions about drivers issues, I would like to precise that they came from new production on a limited number of headphones.

Focal has personally taken on all concerned customers' headphones. These issues are no longer topical.
 
Be sure, that we still pay close attention to our products quality and there is no other issue on Utopia and Elear manufacturing.

I don't but I have tried to use them on planes. Not a real good option. On planes I use the Focal Listen or my Ether Flow C.
