Headphoneus Supremus
I didnt even get an invoice or shipping info for mine yet. You guys must have been the very first buyers of that listing.
Pulled the trigger fairly quickly once I got the email. Honestly I'm surprised it got here so quickly, considering where it came from and where it was going.I didnt even get an invoice or shipping info for mine yet. You guys must have been the very first buyers of that listing.
This is exciting stuff! Have you had the chance to try it with just a single M-Field yet?Ok about 7h into ownership. The stack is HEAVY. My poor Ikea table started bowing and I had to move the M-Field + DX9 + Singxer SU-6 setup onto something more study. It's certainly more audio gear then I've ever had to live with and I'm now shopping for new furniture just to have somewhere to put this stack!
So far I'm pretty blown away by the overall experience. I've auditioned a lot of head-fi gear over the years and it's the first time I've finally felt that I've arrived at the end of the road, amplification wise. I can't wait till the weekend when I have some time to connect it to some R2R goodness via the Musician Pegasus... I hope that I don't fall into the infinite pit of source pairing, but I'm pretty happy with the DX9 working as the DAC so far.
At the moment I'm listening to the DCA Stealth and it is certainly doing the headphone justice. I thought that the DX9's headphone section was really good, but the M-Field is on another planet. Technicalities are clearly superior, and the tonality of the M-Field is very inviting. I don't hear any fatiguing notes across the fundamental frequencies, unlike my THX AAA 789. Likewise there's a sense of pleasant harmonics but not distortion, when compared to the Bottlehead S.E.X.
I was looking for an amp that could walk the fine line between the raw sounding 'amplification by wire' of solid states, and the 'pleasant harmonic distortion' of tubes, and so far I think the M-Field does this masterfully. I'll see if I feel the same over next few weeks tho. Weary that I'm in the honeymoon phase!
My tracking says it made it to Poland yesterday and just reached Germany today, estimated delivery 7/10 USI didnt even get an invoice or shipping info for mine yet. You guys must have been the very first buyers of that listing.
Sounds like you're a happy camper. Do you have the Mentor too? A comparison would be great.Ok about 7h into ownership. The stack is HEAVY. Anyone has the Mentor and bought the Mfield?
I was in SG January this year for a few days and managed to cop the BHA100 tube hybrid amp at Jaben for my AT woodies. Will be visiting back soon.Haven't had a chance to try just a single amp yet as I went straight to hooking it up in mono mode. Will give it a go this weekend when I have time to fiddle around.
Unfortunately I don't have a Mentor so I'm unable to so a side-by-side comparison. I'm also quite curious how they stack up to one a other.
If anyone in Singapore has a Mentor...
It's kinda like a charcoal grey. Much darker than silver and with a matte finish. Is that the black or the silver? The face plates look in between. I ordered mine in silver because the matte blasted look is dope! Nice amps, can't wait for mine!
We got the same version, sounds like. Sorry maybe charcoal is the wrong descriptor. More like a gunmetal grey...So you got the same version, not the black? Just to clarify.
