This statement you need to back up in some way! Care sharing links?
Cause FLAC is lossless...

Care to clarify your statement?

FLAC consumes your audio quality as much as zip consumes the contents of your documents.

And?
FLAC (and other lossless audio codecs) are compressed CD quality. Without loss, as the name say, with the audio data 100% intact.

Guess you have missed the essentials!

The advantages of FLAC over WAV are that the files are smaller, and they are easier to tag. Other than that, they are essentially the same thing.
I don't know why anyone would use WAV when FLAC sounds exactly the same but a smaller file size. Sure some people have loads of storage, but theres no point wasting space is there.

You have just convinced me to ignore everything you say about audio.

The data stream going to your DAC from FLAC or WAV must be bit-identical.... That what's meant by lossless compression. Absolutely no difference in the digital information, nor the sound.

Why is everyone questioning what the guy hears with his own ears? Are you trying to throw science at him or something?

Wow, so much excitement here!!

Does FLAC decompress in real time when you push play like a streaming process or faster, or is the decompression done just once at the beginning of the process (when you open the file)? I'm trying to see how I can benefit from FLAC by using it with Nuendo or WaveLab. Or is FLAC mainly just for portable players and as a playback? And yes, sometimes the sonic signature is different between the players and has nothing to do with the file format.
