Is there any chance of the new HM-801 firmware?

Don't expect your SDHC card troubles to be remedied for the HM-601 though.

worked well for me. at first, I was trying to load tunes onto the hm-601 without a card present, and it would occasionally stall. the two things that improved this (while I shop around for the right SDHC cards) were the firmware upgrade and an old card. the firmware allowed me to use a 32MB card (yes: megabyte, it's a museum piece  but it works, was new in plastic wrap deep in storage with some old photo gear), and the presence of that card also accelerates the loading of hi-rez files onto the hifiman. (new head-fi craze: NOS memory cards?) joking apart, I believe the firmware update has made my player more functional. fwiw I am using apple computers, and haven't encountered issues yet with my computers, after the firmware upgrade.

Silly question, but how do I reboot the HM602? Thanks.

Never mind ... I figured it out! Upgraded the HM602 successfully. Note: While upgrading it flashed HM801 instead of HM602 as reported above. Thanks.

What exactly does this upgrade do? I got my HM602 a little over one year ago and love it. is this the rock box upgrade or something similar? I just want to know before I delete all of my music and have to reinstall.
