Rn6 is more reference while kr5 and xe6 are for bass head (in a good way).
I Always thought kr5 was more referenfe than rn6 no?

Not stating, I am just asking because I plan to grab one of the FIR iems soon enough and am debating between xe6, rn5, kr5.

Xe6 is definitelly not a basshead IEM :)
Even with gold or silver atoms they don't have more bass than i.e. CA Dorado2020, just better quality in every aspect.
And especially Kr5/Rn6 are not.

Basshead could be FatFREQ MMSE.

Just demo them - you have a great store in NY which stocks them.
Rn6 should be inbetween those two but it's up to your taste which one will suit you best.
As for me the warm magic of Xe6 won. Tried Kr5 and Rn6 later and I am sure it was a good choice.

I gotta disagree here, and I'm using the red module on Xe6...i also have Dorado. Kinetic Bass is no hype, it adds much dimension when compared to Dorado, which is excellent in it's own right, no disagreement there.

Considering I'm using the red and feeling powerful pumping bass, I can only guess how much more there will be when I switch, if I ever get around to it! Red is so good!!!

Edit: IMHO, Xe6 is a bassheads dream.

As for me Xe6 is the best for metal :)
That’s interesting, as I’ve read other impressions that Xe6 is not good for metal, I wouldn’t know myself as I don’t listen to much metal.

The only reason I raise this is because it gets repeated that Xe6 is a genre specialist, great at some and bad at others, and metal was quoted back to me as a bad one.

While I’m not deluding myself into thinking Xe6 is any kind of “all-rounder”, I haven’t listened to any of my staple diet of classic/indie/alternative rock, EDM, hip hop, electronic, folk/acoustic, & singer/songwriter with it yet that I’d rather hear with something else. 🤷‍♂️

I also think that Xe6 is not that great for metal, at least with the default atom. The bass is just too dominant imo, and the vocal and guitars can be too laid back on some track. If you listen to really fast metal like technical death, it could be real messy and it’s like you’re being punched and slammed nonstop. I know that some people said the Xe6 require brain burn-in for the bass to make sense but I only had few minutes to try.

I have had my V x V's that I quite like for just over a year, but I was wondering, will there ever be a 6 x 6? I leave you with a pic of my V x Vs.

No idea which one is default atom :) I am using probably gold since a year (the paint is long gone).

Midbass brings distorted guitars forward, especially with death metal, which is usually downtuned to C or A - this is the reason I like Xe6 so much and it's my daily since a year.
I don't have an impression something is "blurring" and my ears are trained with various music
(I have RME FireFace and Genelec monitors on my desk at work so I am also familiar with more flatten, closer to "reference" sound).
Xe6 can do good old Iron Maiden and Meshuggah 8-string wall of sound.
Ofcourse this is a matter of a taste / personal impression.

And seriously - I wouldn't classify Xe6 as basshead IEM.
I was hoping it is, but it's not.
It's warm, thanks to the great midbass probably no other IEM has, but there is not much sub.

FatFREQ Maestro SE could be considered basshead, or Legend X.
But I didn't liked them with metal - guitars were too laid back compared to Xe6.

I have no idea what atom I tried, there was tons of people behind me also waiting to try in the HK av show so I only got a few minutes. I think your points could be valid, I have accustomed to the bass of Kr5 for too long which possibly makes me find the Xe6 bass overwhelming mentally. Seems like I have to listen to it for a longer period.

When I searched for it, the first thing popped out is “deepest bass on the planet”, that’s a bold claim.😂

It is sad that FATFreq has no distributor in Hong Kong, they have been praised a lot and I have no chance to try it out.
They are great, but they are tuned differently and lack the midbass Xe6 have, so the guitars are too hidden for my taste.
Great with i.e. Massive Attack, Portishead, or maybe first Danzig, early Maiden.
They are also huge compared to FIR shells, twice as big or more if I remember.

I hope FIR will create one day an IEM with Xe6 midbass, MMSE subs and Kr5 transparency :)
