Hi all,

I received a FiOO E7 for Christmas, and I have already noticed some small amount of intermittent crackling on the left channel, even with no input connected to it, as well as an audible hiss. It improves and almost vanishes when the volume is turned down to around 20-25, like when using connected to my Mac as a DAC (which sounds fantastic too), but if running an aux input into it, it needs to be turned up much higher when the noises are more noticeable.
Is this normal, or should I be returning it straight away as faulty??

FiiO E7 does hiss a little at high volume, but it shouldn't be a problem in most part unless your source turns out to be particular weak. If you are using the line-in (the AUX) without line-out signal from the source, you should keep the volume on the source high and the volume on E7 low. This is how you should set the volume as it improves dynamic range as well.

No sure about the cracking though, it could be the E7. Be sure your headphone plug is clean. Some time a dirty plug can induce cracking as well.
