Finding a DAC for the Cavalli Liquid Carbon. Only Four Months to Go.

I'm going to use that with the Liquid Carbon.  But I need to order a special RSA to Dual XLR interconnect, from Moon Audio most likely.  This is a great computer/iDevice DAC, but that's it...

Jeff, I'm selling my CLAS-db

Jeff, I'm selling my CLAS-db

I already have one.  That's why I'm going to use it.  I have aspirations for a Sony HAP-Z1ES, which is why I'm choosing this to continue using the CLAS-db, and letting my RxMk3-b go.  No extra spending now so I can have a music machine later...

I thought I'd have four months to make up my mind. A dealer close to me just became a Hegel rep. He gave me a great deal on his first Hegel order. Could not guarantee the price later, so I bit.

A new Hegel HD12 on it's way to partner with the LC in four months. I can't wait!!!

good suggestions. any recommendations that does point 6.2 (under $600 price point)?

Here, Here!  And for the record, so far, everything I see in the ~<$600 range has a headphone amp included.  Why?  Any thoughts for something that doesn't?  I don't need it, want it, or want to sacrifice resources inside the box to have it.  Why oh Why?  (somebody call the Wambulance now....).

Any impressions on the Cambridge Dac Magic Plus from this group?  I had the original a few years ago.  It was ok.  Fit and finish were acceptable, sound seemed a bit bright, but that is from old memory.  The Plus is supposed to be better.

As for me, DSD is not necessary.  The only use it has for me is helping future resale.

Any thoughts on the TEAC UD-301.  It seems to check most of the boxes and is currently on sale for $299 (After Mail in rebate) at Crutchfield (among other places)...

I checked it off my list right away. A fellow employee has one in his office, and it sounded very muddy. No clarity at all on the instruments. Could be his amp (JDS O2), or his phones (Senns 598).

Meh, I've never been a huge fan of TEAC. I haven't heard that DAC but the products i have heard from them left me underwhelmed. Of coarse that's just me.

I'm guessing its the DAC, I have the 598 and I've heard the O2 various times. Both gears aren't known for being muddy.

Yea, I was guessing the dac right away, but didn't want to be a negative poster. I left that up to you.!

The Hd12 looks good but a little too rich for my blood at 1400. Would love to hear it though.

Not really trying to be negative per se. It's just I've had some very underwhelming experiences with gear from that company. Just trying to be truthful

I am going to have to read up on the emotiva.

I am giving serious consideration to picking up a CLAS dB to pair with the LC. Any thoughts on the dB?

The Micro iDSD is better in all fronts except if the tonality you want is a warmer bassier sound.
