hello, does the Fiio KA11 have automatic impedance detection? if it does, can it be disabled with a firmware update?
Dear friend,

Hi, what automatic impedance detection would you like to disable?
The output power for 32ohm impedance is 200mW.

Best regards

The KA11 has no automatic impedance detection.
automatic impedance detection needs to be configured for ESS DAC for better distortion indicators

thanks for the answer! glad to hear that, already ordered one!

had some previous dongles that had automatic impedance detection, had to use a separate aux cable to trick it to max volume which was a hassle

You can choose KA2 and there are no plans for only 4.4
Came to ask the same, please keep the ka2 alive then because there are not enough options for 4.4mm only, cord attached dacs.

Some of us prefer the compactness of built in cables.

Also received ka11 yesterday and only tested for a few tracks. Definitely more powerful then ka1 but it also seemed to warm up quick. Initial impression is a very clean sound and looking forward to testing it out some more in the coming days.

@FiiO Kang is there any stats on the power consumption compared to ka1? Or a general comparison? I assume it would draw more given the additional power it produces
Dear friend,

KA1KA11
Power consumption50mA(Standby)
60mA( 40mV)
90mA(Standby)
100mA( 40mV)

Best regards

warm up quick,Because the output power of KA11 is much greater than that of KA1, but in fact, the temperature of KA11 is not high, and the power consumption is not large.

I actually already got my KA11. Quick impressions!
  • Output power is definitely higher than other budget dongles. More than enough for any IEMs. But I have no way of measuring this (couldn't tell you specific numbers to confirm/deny Fiio's quoted specs).
  • It does indeed seem to drain my phone's battery quite a lot.
  • It gets warm but not enough to be a worry IMO.
  • I got the white/silver version but I would advise the black one, because the cable is braided fabric and it's already getting dirty and ugly.
  • Sound quality is good but not noticeably different from other dongles IMO. I only got it for the output power.
EDIT: Playing my 6XX unbalanced out of the Qudelix 5K with the volume maxed out sounded, to me, about the same volume as the KA11 while maxed out. YMMV.

Just placed an order on the KA11, very impressed with the form factor and value proposition. I was expecting something like this from Fiio (but not with that amount of power). I'm interested to compare it with my THX onyx which has a bit of a sterile sound (ESS DAC) compared to a cheap CS43131 DAC.

Just received my KA11 today. Out of the box, they sounded pretty nice - and particularly powerful for such a small dongle. However...

@FiiO As I'm on an iPhone, the Fiio app does not recognise them. And being the lightning version, I don't appear to have any way of accessing the feature set. Am I missing something, or is the IOS app version non-existant?

The Apple version of FiiO's app has never worked and it never will. I have no idea why they keep it available in the App Store.
