That would be the amp-less module James was showing few weeks ago (for people who use it as a DAC only device), just an educated guess.

It took an agonising two and a half weeks to arrive!

One thing I've noticed though is that every now and then, the X7 does slip a bit from the case and I have to push it up a bit. As the blue light gets obscured.

Don't know whether it's normal or not as the case does have a huge bottom opening, so I've contacted the seller to inquire. (Never happened with the plastic case the X7 ships with, but then again, it's plastic

)

 
Thanks! that seems reasonable. I opted for the slowest shippment, its expected 5 to 30 May, but I got a tracking number which is great, I wasn't expecting. I think my wife will notice the "new" X7, navy blue instead of burgundy, I only have 3 weeks to formulate a theory ... maybe color fade ?

Directly comparing X7+AM1 to Fiio X5II, seems like AM1 is smoother. Even if measurements show the opposite, it still sounds like it to my ears. 

Maybe it is a psychoacoustic thing?

This does not mean that I think anything bad about X7, it is the best sounding standalone DAP to date.

Sadly, I missed AM2 when it first came to Romania, and I will be sure to go and listen to it when next batch arrives. Maybe I will get a chance to hear high power module too by then. 

Didn't hear the x5ii for too long but the x5 is brighter than x7 + am1. That doesn't make the x7 smooth imo but it makes the x5 bright

Reduction in price if X7 is bundled with AM0? Yes. And quite possibly a reduction in weight too..

But since it already by-passes the amp when using Line-Out, would it result in a longer battery?

@haiku best dap ever? I have to respectfully disagree. It's a great dap and extremely versatile. With the stock am1, I didn't like it at all, and wouldn't keep it. Fortunately they have the modular system so I can add whatever I want.

Sq wise, with the am2, it's great. Going from memory it probably comes very close to the AK240. Unfortunately, the UI is not as good, but does have more options. I do have some minor issues with it, overall I'm extremely happy with it. But, calling it the best dap... That I cannot do.

Problems with the UI? The UI is not good? I had many DAP's and I loved the UI. Its fast, simple and beautiful. No problems at all. But if you didn't liked it you can install many others players.
